The Jazz Combo is a small ensemble for student musicians who wish to experience all the facets of playing, rehearsing and performing with a jazz combo.  Each band consists of three or more musicians.  The typical lineup of a band includes guitar, bass, and drums.  Other instruments can be added to any band.  Students of all instruments are welcome to participate in our Jazz Combo ensembles.  All Jazz Combos are coached by Kevin Lampson.

Anyone can participate in a band as long as they have minimal skills on their instrument.  If you are interested in this activity but do not have any musical training then you should consider private lesson with one of our instructors.

Most combos consist of students from the age of middle to high school and beyond.  Students will be placed in class according to their age and skill level.  This grouping and placement is essential to develop a cohesive social unit out of the band.

Each band will rehearse a number of songs with the guidance of the faculty members at The Guitar Academy.  Typically each band will learn three to five songs during the course of the semester.  Each jazz combo rehearses every other week for 90 minutes.  There will be performances opportunities throughout the semester with a scheduled concert at the end.
